Our Story

The Beginning
Before the barre and the studio lights, my journey began in a very different classroom. After six years as an academic teacher, I made the decision to leave the ministry to pursue a lifelong passion for ballet. This transition was about more than just a career change; it was about finding a way to bridge the gap between technical dance instruction and the unique needs of adult learners.

The First Step
In 2021, this vision took its first form as Studio by Raquel Yeo. These early days were defined by more than just teaching — they were spent listening. Through countless conversations in and out of the studio, I began to understand the fears, triumphs, and stories of my dancers. It soon became clear that they weren't just looking for a place to dance; they were searching for a dedicated community where they felt they truly belonged.

The Evolution & Our Mission
As the community grew, so did our identity. In 2023, the brand officially rebranded to Assemblé Studios — taking its name from the French word "to gather" — and we reached a major milestone by opening our flagship home at Waterloo Street. This physical space was envisioned as more than just a studio; it is a sanctuary built to dismantle the traditional stereotypes that ballet is only for the young, the flexible, or those with a specific physique. By breaking these barriers, we’ve created a home in the heart of the city where dancers can find fitness, healing, and self-discovery. Within these walls, we are truly blessed to be part of your unique journey and growth.

The Next Chapter
The journey continues to evolve. As our community of dancers expands, we commit to making ballet even more accessible and continuing to provide a supportive home for adult dancers in Singapore.
